Book Summary: Clara has known she was part-angel ever since she turned fourteen two years ago, but only now is her Purpose – the crucial rite of passage for every part-angel – becoming clear to her. Clara?s Purpose leads her family to Wyoming, where, amidst terrifying scenes of a bush inferno, she finds the boy of her visions, Christian. He is everything she could wish for – so why does she also have feelings for her enigmatic classmate Tucker?
Clara discovers that her Purpose is only a small part of a titanic struggle between angels and their destructive counterparts, the Black Wings. And when the fire of her visions erupts and both Christian and Tucker are in danger, who will she choose to save?
From debut novelist Cynthia Hand comes a riveting tale full of supernatural powers, forbidden romance, and the choice between fulfilling your destiny or following your heart.
My Thoughts: Unearthly is one of the best Angel fantasy novels I have read. I literally could not put it down from start to finish. I am wondering if it’s just me or if all young adult books have love triangles these days. If not I seem to be attracted to all the books where the main character has two love interests. I cant seem to get enough of them and i love reading them and Unearthly is no exception.
I enjoyed reading the book from Clara’s perspective. Despite being an angel, Clara is very much a normal teen girl. She’s smart but insecure and like many teenagers she underestimates herself, but thats what makes Clara real and easy to identify with.
Christian was the heart throb with perhaps a more tender and caring side than your typical heart throb. He is the perfect guy! How could you not fall for him, but then along comes Tucker, hot but a little rougher around the edges than Christian the golden boy. As Clara got to know Tucker and swept us along with her I found myself falling for him myself. Did anybody else picture Kellan Lutz as Tucker or was that just me??? The ending surprised me, I had actually pictured a different scenario and was surprised by how it actually played out.
All up I thought that Unearthly was a lovely story and I cant wait to see what happens next.
My Rating: (out of 5)
