When Emma Vaile’s parents leave on a mysterious business trip, it gives her the perfect excuse to be a rebellious teen. But then her best friend stops talking to her, the police crash her party and Emma finds herself in the hands of a new guardian, Bennett Stern, and on a plane to his museum-like mansion in New England.

After enrolling at Thatcher Academy, Emma settles in by making friends with the popular crowd. She has memories of Thatcher she can’t explain and strange visions are haunting her. Emma doesn’t trust anyone any more – except maybe Bennett. But he’s about to reveal a ghostly secret to her. One that will explain the visions . . . and make Emma fear for her life.

Cherie’s ReviewDeception by Lee Nichols is a fantastic first book in a new series that allows a glimpse into the afterlife. Emma Vaile is a teenage girls thrown into a world of shadowy figure heads and mysterious friends. She is a girl with a very strange gift that no-one seems to be able to understand or even believe. It’s a mixture of Buffy and Medium and it drew me in and I cannot wait to read the sequel to this story Betrayal. Lee Nichols made Emma someone you want to protect while wanting to give her a kick in the pants and the rest of the players in this novel are believable and it gives credence to the entire story. Deception is well worth a read.

This is the first in Amanda Hocking’s stunning first series, the .

Cherie’s ReviewSwitched by Amanda Hocking is a new twist on mythical creatures and a somewhat welcome break from Vampires. I thought the book pulled you in from the beginning and I found myself enmeshed in the life of this lonely girl who feels completely out of place and wonders why she does. As someone who has read other Amanda Hocking books, I will say that this has to be one of my favourites. The characters are easily liked (or in some cases immediately unlikeable) and the story line isn’t too complex to leave the reader confused but complex enough that it keeps the reader wanting more and dreading the end of the book. This book is the first in a trilogy and I cannot wait for the others to be released. This story is well worth the read.

Infinite Days, written by Rebecca Maizel, is a story about Lenah a 592 year old vampire who wakes only to find herself human and in the 21st century. The story is well written and the historical tinge to it lends credence to Lenah’s character. The way she goes about figuring out who she wants to be and how she has to go about getting there is in some parts moving and in others frustrating, the emotions Lenah experiences are almost tangible.

Infinite Days is a good read and the plot is easy to follow, the characters are likeable (or dislikable) and I really enjoyed the way in which the characters interacted with one another, however the only critisism (if you could call it that) is that it wasn’t long enough. I found myself visualising the characters as I read and found myself wondering how they would react to certain situations that arose.
