Book Description: Retra doesn’t want to go to Ixion, the island of ever-night. Retra is a Seal – sealed minds, sealed community. She doesn’t crave parties and pleasure like all the others. But her brother left for Ixion two years ago, and Retra is determined to find him.
Braving the pain of her obedience strip to escape the only home she’s ever known, Retra finds herself drawn deeper into the intoxicating world of Ixion. Come to me, whispers a voice in her head. Who are the Ripers, the mysterious guardians of Ixion? What are the Night Creatures Retra can see in the shadows? And what happens to those who grow too old for Ixion?
Retra will find that Ixion has its pleasures – but its secrets are deadly.
What a fantastic book by Marrianne de Pierres. It was so easy to immerse myself into Retra’s story and be lost in her tangled troubled life, that led her to Ixion in search of her brother, the intriguing characters of the Ripers, and what they may possibly be, and also the dangerous creatures of the night that lurk in every dark corner of Ixion.
Retra’s life as a seal is what helps her and keeps her safe in the beginning, the whole absence of immorality and selfishness in her though, also leads to her standing out as different and therefore one to be watched.
Ixion is a place of darkness and more dangerous than the party filled, drug fuelled lifestyle that the residents believe is the whole way of life. Danger and the unknown lurk in every dark corner.
Burn Bright is such an easy book to read and one I completely got lost in, the twists and turns and Retra’s new friendships and life changing decisions along the way make this a must have book. I cannot wait for Angel Arias later this year.
